Don Springer, Pastor Emeritus
Don Springer was born and lived all but 18 months of his life in Elrod, Alabama; which is in Tuscaloosa County. He is a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master’s in Administration at the University of Alabama. After graduation, Don became a teacher and later principal at Holt High School from 1957-1969. Afterwards, he became a counselor at Tuscaloosa County High School for 18 years. Don married Sue Barton in 1960 and they have two girls and four grandchildren. Don became a Christian at the Grandview Royal Ambassador Camp in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 12. He grew up in church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for 17 years and a deacon for several years. At the age of 37, after refusing the call for 17 years, he surrendered to the ministry. He pastored the Bethany Baptist Church as a bi-vocational pastor for ten years and then pastored Carroll’s Creek Baptist Church for 13 years, the first 3 being a bi-vocational pastor, then going full time the last 10 years. After retiring, he served as interim pastor in 11 other churches before coming to Grant’s Creek in 2005 as Associate Pastor.
